POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN DANCE EDUCATION-1YEAR

Brief Description of the Programme:

The Postgraduate Diploma in Dance Education (PGDE) is designed for the University of Kisubi(UniK), to be offered under the Department of Education. The postgraduate certificate program lasts for one (1) years of study on a full time basis. The curriculum offers the beneficiaries the necessary training, knowledge, skills, attitudes and competences for teaching dance at both the primary and secondary levels of schools and private and public institutions of learning. These courses are pertinent to the job market in the contemporary dance world, such as Cross Cultural Team Teaching Practice, Dance Teaching Methodology, Arts Management and the like. This will increase the beneficiaries’ employment opportunities.

Specific Objectives
1. To equip the learners with practical skills and knowledge to enable them dance to all age groups in private studios, fitness centers, community centers, primary and secondary schools and extracurricular activities, with confidence, efficiently and effectively.
2. To equip the learners with knowledge of educational professionalism and ethics
3. To empower the learners with contemporary skills in dance education and knowledge of
management, curriculum design, development and implementation.
4. To introduce the learners to the basics of educational research.
5. To equip learners with theories and skills of efficiently and effectively managing dance projects and performances.
6. To equip learners with up-to-date information, communication and technologies in dance education.

Learning Outcomes
Upon the successful completion of the proposed program, graduates will have acquired knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to: Teach technical dance skills using correct body alignment and muscle coordination using the dance vocabulary of various dance styles
